Arrival Skopje 0825. Skopje is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Macedonia. It is the country's political, cultural, economic, and academic center. Arrival at the Skopje International Airport, after regulating the customs control, we will start our tour of the old and the new Skopje. The new Skopje is presented by the project Skopje 2014 (lot of new monuments, statues and buildings). We will start our tour from the Skopje’s center and see Grand fountain of Alexander the Great, Memorial House of Mother Theresa, The Holocaust Memorial Center we will also visit the old railway station which is a memory of the Skopje earthquake. Stone Bridge connects the new and old Skopje but before crossing it we will have a stop for a lunch. The spirit of old Skopje can be filled through the Old Bazaar, which is a mixture of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture, on our way to the Skopje’s fortress Kale we will visit Daut Pasha Hammam, Mustapha Pasha Mosque, Chifte Hammam and the church of the Holy Savior. This historical monument is well known for its iconostasis from 1824 made by PetreFilipovic and is final resting place of the great Macedonian fighter for liberation against the Ottomans placed in a simple stone sarcophagus. After the tour is over transfer to the hotel and free time. Overnight in the hotel.
Ohrid is the biggest touristic center in Macedonia well known for its history, old churches and the beautiful Ohrid Lake which is one of the oldest and deepest lakes on the Balkans. It is one of the most-visited places in the country and often regarded as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans”. Early breakfast in the hotel and we will continue our tour to Ohrid but first we will have a chance to see more of the nature and Skopje’s surrounding beauties. So today we will visit the village of GornoNerezi and church St. Pantelejmon where we will see the old frescoes from the Byzantine time. Than we will continue to the canyon Matka which is one of the most popular outdoor destinations with very specific flora and fauna and is home to several medieval monasteries we will have a chance to see Monastery of the Holy Mother of God. The Matka Lake within the Matka Canyon is the oldest artificial lake in the country. Lunch before continuing to Ohrid.After Matka tour, we continue to Ohrid where upon arrival we will have a city tour starting from the Ohrid Square and walking through small cobbled streets of the old Ohrid. First, we will see the House of Robevci - family house of one of the richest families in Ohrid from 19 th. century, than St. Sophia church which is a classic example of Macedonian medieval art, Ancient Theatre - build in 200 BC. used for gladiatorial battles, the St. Clement church from 13 th century located on Plaosnik which was turned into mosque in 15 th century and back to church at 16 th century, we will also see the St. Jovan of Kaneo church from 13 th century and walk up hill to Tsar Samuil’s fortress from where there is the most magnificent view of Ohrid. Free time shopping in Ohrid with a visit to the old bazar. Overnight in the hotel in Ohrid.
After the breakfast in the hotel, we are on the way to St. Naum monastery. Upon our arrival, we will visit the St. Naum monastery which is located on a rocky outcrop at the southernmost part of Ohrid Lake near the Albanian Border. This is one of the most popular day trips from Ohrid. The monastery is from 9 th century and St. Naum who built the monastery is buried inside. You will enjoy the amazing view of the Lake Ohrid and the springs of the River Black Drim. We will then continue our trip to Tirana capital of Albania and after short panoramic city tour and lunch we will continue to Shkoder. Shkoder is one of the oldest and one of the most historic places in Albania. This city is also known as the center of the Albanian Catholicism and a perfect proof of the fact that all different relegation can adjoin in one country. We will have a chance to walk along Rruga (road) KoleIdromeno through the heart of Central Shkoder, where placed on the beginning of this pedestrian road is the new monument of Mother Teresa, we will visit St. Stephen’s Catholic Cathedral (Shkoder Cathedral) renovated in 1990 s when visited by the great Pope John Paul II, and The Orthodox Cathedral of the Nativity church which is one of the most beautiful churches in Albania with a tall Bell Tower. Overnight in the hotel in Shkoder.
After breakfast we are on our way to Budva. Budva town is known as the mosaic of the Balkans for its vibrant atmosphere. This old Mediterranean port is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by Republic of Venice, we will have a chance to learn something of the heritage of this city while we visit the old town and Orthodox churches. We continue our journey to Kotor and will enjoy a short tour during which we will visit Wall of Shame, Orthodox Square, Major Building, Tourism school, Weapon Square. Kotor Bay is a Natural and Culture-Historical Region protected by UNESCO. Free time for lunch Proceed to Trebinje. Overnight in hotel in Trebinje.
After breakfast check out and continue to Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is known for its 1.400 - year history and architecture on a tour of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, we will explore landmarks including the Franciscan Monastery, Stradun monument, Cathedral of the Assumption, Onofrio Fountain and Harbor. Admire vibrant architecture of Rector's Palace: A harmonious Gothic and Renaissance palace with certain Baroque additions. Lunch in Dubrovnik. On our way to Mostar we will stop at Medjugorje to visit Statue of Virgin Mary at Podbrdo, place of apparition of Virgin Mary. Medjugorje has become one of the most popular pilgrimage sites for Catholics in the world and has turned into Europe's third most important apparition site, where each year more than 1 million people visit. It has been estimated that 30 million pilgrims have come to Medjugorje since the reputed apparitions began in 1981. Continue to Mostar. The city with fascinating history, beautiful architecture and natural setting in a valley on Neretva river banks. We will have a sightseeing tour and have a chance to see the Old bridge (UNESCO World heritage). Overnight in hotel in Mostar.
After breakfast proceed to Sarajevo. Continue to Sarajevo. Arrival to Sarajevo. Drive to Tunnel Museum Drive to Tunnel Museum. Sightseeing of the Museum. Procced to VreloBosne Natural Park - the springs of river Bosna afterwards. Visit Bascarsija old town with cobbled streets, numerous Mosques and oriental shops, Latin Bridge where assignation of Franz Ferdinand took place, Morica Han, the only one uniquely styled inn in Sarajevo built in 1551, Vijecnica, Town Hall for the Austro-Hungarian era. Lunch in local restaurant. Free time for leisure & shopping. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Early breakfast and continue our trip to Belgrade the capital of Republic of Serbia..Upon arrival tour of Belgrade. When we start our tour, we will walk pass the building called PalataAlbanija (Palace Albania) via KnezMihailova street and stop at The Republic Square.
The Republic Square is the main city square where we will see the monument dedicated to KnezMihailo (liberator of the city from the Ottoman Empire), National Museum, National Theatre… We will continue our tour through KnezMihailova street, main pedestrian city zone. During our trip, we’ll see Patriarchate of the Serbian Orthodox church and the residence of Princess Ljubica. After we move to the residential area of Belgrade. The first place for our short stop will be BeliDvor, the residential palace of the Karadjordjević, Serbian royal family. We will continue to the mausoleum of Josip Broz Tito also known as the House of Flowers. You will have a time for a short tour of this museum. After the visit we continue and pass by the stadiums of Partizan and Red Star on our way to the St. Sava Temple. We will make a stop at this second largest Orthodox temple in the world. You will have free time to look around and visit St. Sava Temple. After this visit we continue and pass through Slavija Square and take the KraljaMilana street passing by the buildings of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the City Hall. Lunch in Belgarde and we will finish our tour on Kalemegdan Fortress. The Fortress that lies at the confluence of the rivers Sava and Danube was first constructed during XIII century and was perfected by Austro Hungarian builders. We will begin our tour of the Kalemegdan Fortress from the high ground where you will have the perfect view of Novi Beograd and Zemun and then continue our tour to the Monument of Gratitude to France, Serbian ally from the First World War. After that we will reach the Statue of Victor, the symbol of Belgrade. Overnight in hotel in Belgrade.
